Šibenik is a town which successfully combines famous history and natural beauties. Nature has given Šibenik, a town mentioned by kings, many islands and islets bathed in the blue of the sea and a fascinating landscape of National Park Krka. Šibenik is a town of tradition, beautiful nature and hospitality where you will always have something to do.

We recommend you to join our walking tour with local guide (80 HRK per person).

Šibenik's history begins in the year 1066 with a charter by king Petar Krešimir IV. Up to WWI the town was ruled by Hungarians, Venetians and Austrians.

The Renaissance left a significant trace on the face of Šibenik, and St. Jakov cathedral is one of the most significant buildings, which we definitely recommend you to visit. The fact that it was being built for a hundred years tells how much effort and skill is invested in the building of this beautiful cathedral. The final stage was completed by local and Italian masters -Francesco di Giacomo, Lorenzo Pincino, Pier Paolo Bussato, Bonino da Milano and Giorgio da Sebenico (Juraj Dalmatinac), Andrija Budčić and Grubiš Šlafčić.

In the year 2000 the cathedral was recognized by UNESCO as world heritage site.

Duke's palace is situated very close to the cathedral. Once a home of town's duke who was the highest representative of government in Šibenik and today it houses archaeological, ethnographic and cultural-historical museum. The palace itself was once a part of the town's defence system in the 13th and 14th c.

Šibenik's Town hall dating back to 16th c. is one of the most beautiful town halls in Croatia, and it is a common theme on post cards. It represents one of the highest achievements of urbanism in the region. As it was finished only ten years after the cathedral, it formed a beautiful Renaissance square that is worth visiting.

As everywhere else in Dalmatia you can find many restaurants in and around Šibenik where you can taste specialties of Mediterranean cuisine. Some of the most renowned are Pellegrini and Marinero, and Buffet Simun is known as one of the most authentic places to eat.
